My work focuses on embracing vulnerability.  I believe that there is beauty in the imperfect. Rather than seeing them as uncomfortable obstacles to be brushed under the rug, imperfections are a way to form deeper connections with the people around us, in a common human vulnerability. I base each of my pieces off of a personal experience of my own, or of someone close to me. Love and heartbreak, loss and being lost, change and growth. The first step is looking past my own pride, and realizing these are topics that almost everyone who will see my work can relate to in some way. A visual motif I often use are wings and winged creatures. Wings are delicate, fragile -- yet powerful, and capable of carrying and supporting its owner off to better bigger and better places.

I scan found objects to be used as either the main subject, or as a texture. When reduced to pixels, these tactile objects lose their original concrete form, but not their connotation. From there is when the transformative aspect of art-making comes into play. How can I create a unique composition out of the materials I have? Whether through a photoshop piece, a video piece, or even a gif for a webpage, new media is the perfect way to get my point across. Life is never stagnant, always changing, much like the possibilities that new media bring.  At the same time, the physical objects I use, and the topics I focus on, will always be the same, as will the experiences people go through.

Ultimately, my goal as I can grow as an artist and as a person, is to use my new life experiences in order to reach a wider range of people. If actions speak louder than words, then I want my work to shout even louder than actions.
